Cloning your entire bot and Flow Sharing are useful features in case you need to transfer the content. But imagine you want to share your whole bot with a client or a community of friendly bot builders and include everything you have — Tags, Custom User Fields, and Actions. Now you can do it with Templates!
The Templates feature is the easiest way to share ideas and techniques with students and the community. They help you manage, back up and share successful experiences with your other accounts. Also, Templates allow you to share pre-built solutions while managing a client’s account.
In this article, we'll guide you through the whole installation process.
How to create a Template
Click the Templates icon on the left sidebar to enter the section. You'll find a list of pre-defined Templates for different business niches.
Your own Templates will appear in My Profile > Templates section as soon as you create them.
In case you have no Templates, you'll be able to start creating them by hitting Create My First Template button or using +New Template button in the upper-right corner of this section. Cool, let's move to the first step — select the source Account your Template will be based on.
Great, now start selecting elements for your Template contents. Create a Template to share your whole bot, separate marketing campaign (e.g. Growth Tool + Flow + Sequence), or share your fancy collection of 600 Keywords. Your template can be any of this or bigger.
Pro and Free Templates
If you add any Pro elements or exceed the Free limit for other elements, then your template becomes PRO. It can be installed only on accounts with Pro subscription. After you add some elements to the Template, the system will automatically display the subscription type.
Adding an element to a Template also adds all connected elements
For example, when you select a Flow which includes “Start another Flow” Step with the other Flow attached, this Flow is automatically added to the Template. Such Flows are inactive — you can exclude them by deactivating or changing the parent element.
Custom Fields in the Installed Templates
As you create a Template, you can choose where you want Custom Fields that your Template contains to be located. Will it be in the Installed Template itself or in the Account's 'Custom Fields' section — it's up to you!
Elements with invalid content
Such elements are marked with red color. Usually, it means that you need to republish them to make them valid. If your Flow was imported from another account, sometimes you need to upload media contents again.
Let's move on. Now, name your Template and choose an Avatar...
...and save it.
You will be redirected to the success page with the Template installation link. Use the Permanent Link option for having a permanent link or a Single-use one to share it only with one account (this link expires after the first installation and can be generated by a template owner). You can manage the link type on the Template page.
Please note, that if you change the link type to protected, your permanent link will be inactive until you switch it back.
You can also Edit Template Preferences which can be accessed from the Templates Section later. Here you can add a custom description and insert installation guides links. In case you leave them empty, users will see pre-defined instructions and guides. If you're going to share this Template with somebody, it's a good call to provide a detailed description of what this Template consists of.
How to edit a Template
Awesome! Now your Template is live and you can access it from the Templates Section. Select a Template and hit the Edit Template button in the upper-right corner. This allows you to add more content, enable/disable public access link, and delete your Template completely.
Confirm all the changes you've made to update your current Template and you're done!
